Doll Artist's Workshop, La Petite Belle Patterns presents our newest miniature dressmaking kit.
1895 Burbidge Water Place Toilette
It is said
that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and I am
hoping that it is true. Our newest kit is only an imitation of
the wonderful work of John Burbidge of "Les Petite Dames de
Mode." Mr. Burbidge completed his collection as a loving
pursuit after he retired from the design team of Pricilla of
Boston. In this La Petite Belle Pattern, Kathi Mendenhall has
interpreted the spirit and style of his Watering Place Toilette
circa 1895. I have found the finest supplies. The dress is
created of wonderfully scaled striped silk taffeta with accents
of pink. Our lady wears a simple hat, a boater style, trimmed
with bows. Her bolero is created from appliquéd laces from
England and France. A parasol and a belt purse complete her
outfit. Kate Forrest has produced flawless and beautifully
painted porcelain for the kit. We hope you enjoy this
latest offering.

Gibson Girl Ball Gown w/ Porcelain Dress Form
Another of our CADILLAC doll kits. This mode is very simple in look and yet, has many ways to embellish. Use your imagination. Though the gown appears quite plain in appearance, the pattern can be challenging.
The mannequin is porcelain with a 14K gold fired neck finial. Both the pattern and the mannequin are created for you by IGMA Artisan Kathi R. Mendenhall. The gown is created from Orchid silk taffeta,
and is complimented by a tightly fitted bodice of matching orchid silk brocade. Dress was inspired by Tom Tierney Gibson Girl paper
doll, but the detailed cape came directly from the fashion pages of the time. The shoulders are richly "embroidered" with silk
trim buds and bows. The short fluted cape is created in the same orchid silk, but with an eye-popping lining of deep olive green
which blends perfectly with the silk trim. To complete the look we've added a beautiful pearl and amethyst necklace dropped from
a perfectly sized silk cord. The purse just completes the ensemble using the same exceptional fabrics.
Everything is included in the kit but your tools: china painted porcelain mannequin, Pattern and complete instructions for
everything described including the jewelry and bag. The pattern is reusable.
Limited to 20 signed sets. The unstained hand turned wood "T" stand for the cape is available for an optional purchase of $8.
